Sand Bar at Low Tide

This perfectly circular piece was inspired by the ripples that form in the sand underneath the waves. And how when the tide pulls out, the water remains at rest in between the sand.
It was created using a bit of software created by myself with some help from some Hollywood special effects wizards. The software uses actual physics equations to mimic a force building up the ripples in the sand, exactly how the waves do it. That lends to the realism of the piece.
Then the 3D model is carved out of a block of HDU with a CNC router, and the water is traced and laser-cut out of suede. The piece floats an 1″ off the wall. The size is 47x47x2″
